Lake Chimikeppu 2 !

by Kazu

Every time I visit Lake Chimikeppu, I remember Lake Emerald in Alberta. My wife and I enjoyed canoeing there fifteen years ago. As the name shows, the color of the lake was emerald green.
In case of Lake  Chimikeppu, the color of the water seems to be amber brown with the tannin of unsolved trees and leaves albeit the surface of the lake reflects the green leaves of spruces.
"Chimileppu " means "the place where water breaks the cliff and is flowing in the language of the indigenous people of Hokkaido Ainu. I can not find the place where the water breaks the cliff but the naming by Ainu people shows the fact precisely.
